Urodacus sp.

Urodacus sp.

We have a long way to go before even being close to discovering all the scorpion species inhabiting this vast continent. Many new scorpions have shown up since the last major taxonomic work conducted over 20 years ago. Some of these will be described as new species, others subspecies and some simply variants of existing species. The scorpion shown above is an arid adapated inland dweller of which little to nothing is presently known. Rarity causes a problem with scorpion taxonomic work, the difficulty in finding such scorpions is the greatest barrier to taxonomic placement and understanding.
