Urodacus manicatus

Urodacus manicatus

In Captivity: This scorpion is commonly sold in petshops in the Eastern States of Australia, going under the common name of Black Rock scorpion.
A good choice for a captive specimen, they are quite docile, live happily with a slightly damp environment and a rock to dig under. Dealer purchased crickets seem the safest bet with feeding, ensuring there are no chemicals or diseases to harm your scorpion. A water dish is also a very good idea, especially during summer months. Males will aggressively attempt to mate with an adult or juvenile female. During mating season, which is late spring early summer adults can be very aggressive towards each other and if kept together may kill each other.
