Isometroides sp.

Isometroides sp.

An undescribed and unusual example of an Isometroides from central Queensland. The unusual shaped telson may be the result of specialised spider predation by this scorpion. As species of Isometroides have developed the ability to kill burrowing spiders and take over their refuge, this telson modification may well be the result of many battles between spiders and scorpions.
Notice the very typical 5th tail segment of Isometroides, pitted, smooth and shiny without keels, almost cylindrical in morphology.

Many thanks to Erich Volschenk from the Western Australian Museum for usage of the image.
