Description: A member of the endemic Australian Urodacidae family, whose closest relatives include members of the Scorpionidae inc., Heterometrus, Opisthophthalmus, and Pandinus.

An obligate burrower that constructs deep spiralling burrows in hard sandy soils up to a metre or more deep. Similar in most respects to U. macrurus, where it is most readily distinguished by reddish - light brown finger keel. Generally light yellow brown to reddish brown. Arms and legs lighter and yellowish. Tail moderately long in male, short in female. Vesicle small to moderate in size, aculeus moderately short. Hand rounded and narrow, fingers long. Tarsal claws of equal length.
